Wellington Airport "The Rock"

Wellington, New Zealand

The Rock is the last project of an extensive five year two-stage development to increase capacity to meet existing demand, and prepare for future growth at Wellington Airport. The new addition has more than doubled the space in the departure lounge and allows the airport to process up to 1,000 passengers per hour. Studio Pacific Architects in conjunction with Warren & Mahoney had a challenging brief that required a unique and innovative design. The architects specified Classic Metal® – Double Standing Seam and Angle Seam Profiles, 0.6mm KME TECU Classic Copper Roofing and Flashings. The Classic Metal® team were proud to work alongside Mainzeal on this project. Our roofing and cladding specialists were pleased to take this opportunity to showcase their expertise by manufacturing and installing 3,600 copper panels that made up this complex facade and interior of a Wellington icon.
